I'm rather surprised by this comment. If the Coptic/Greek unification proved to be ill-advised how could you defend what I see, if I recall properly, as your (original ?) position : Phoenician/Hebrew unification ?

Because each such case has to be judged on its individual merits, according to proper justification and user requirements. There can be no hard rules like "always split" or "always join".
