I would add that it would probably be better to encode them in an order that lists the larger number first. i.e., 0-0, 1-0, 1-1, 2-0, 2-1, 2-2, 3-0, etc. so that if at a later date it is determined that an even larger set of dominoes needs to be encoded than the one that is first encoded the number of discontinuities is an ordered listing of the dominoes is kept to at most one per time additional dominoes are added.
