        Windows has excellent support for special filenames, although if the character is actually 0x ('?'), then this idea is sound, as Windows prohibits that character in filenames.

        Note that you probably need 2 CDROMs to do this.  I believe Knoppix doe not install all needed filesystems to memory, so the Knoppix CD must stay in.
