They can neither generate such characters nor (apparently) open fonts that
contain such characters.
Then move the non-BMP characters to the PUA using ftxdumperfuser (or remove their Unicode mappings altogether), and re-add (or re-shift) the Unicode mappings after using FontLab with the same tool.
