If you want to write SMS emoji novels, that may be a concern. For occasion use in SMS, or for non-SMS use, I don't think there's much of a concern.

Sorry for going off topic here, but this means that new emoji (emoticons) code points for Unicode 6.0.0 are going to be very costly, being as it is that they are in the UTF-16 surrogate area.....
