The LOZENGE is also found in GOST 10859; my guess that it was there not to represent sown fields or female fertility (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lozenge#Symbolism) but rather for its usage in modal logic to express the possibility of the following expression (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lozenge#Modal_logic) as it contains quite a few other symbols used in mathematical logic.
