Nice! I think you're right, they're meaning the Rio-style emoji's that twitter appends after olympic hashes. Still, it would be cool if those 5 new sports could be expressed in emoji's right? People will need them a lot in 2020! I'm working on a proposal for a 'Climbing' icon. That's one of the 5. I chose Climbing instead of SportClimbing to make the icon more generic and useful for all kinds of climbers instead of just 'SportClimbing'. Judging by the attached gif, it looks like they actually mean hashflags, not Unicode emoji.
