If you want I can break the Windows support, and submit the change as a patch. :)
As I still haven't managed a successful Windows build from CVS I think it's a bit of a moot point right now >:)
Actually, though I detest Microsoft, I am pleased that Unicon supports Windows. I found out about Unicon when one of my co-workers, having problems of some sort running one of my Icon programs on Windows, wrote an e-mail to Dr. Jeffery about it and found out that newer versions of Windows Icon were Unicon.
I cam across Unicon a couple of years ago but was heavily involved in some VB projects so didn't have the time to play with it. I'd previously played with Idol and wasn't overly impressed, but that was back before I discovered the wonders of OOP and realised that OOP + Icon = less code...
I didn't really care about that; what attracted me immediately was the Posix support.
The Posix support is a definite plus point. As is the addition of graphics and easy networking. It almost takes me back to the pleasure of BASIC when I first started coding in 1981 and I could do everything I wanted in one language without having to learn hundreds of unwieldy libraries - only Unicon is a far superior language to any variant of BASIC I've ever played with. I'm also looking forward to playing with the ODBC support when I get a chance.
