I can confirm this bug. I'll try to commit a CVS fix shortly. In the new replacement for typecasting FILE * to be every kind of I/O facility in the universe...I seem to have missed a spot or two.
We now have a union where FILE * is one of several options. This was necessitated mainly to cleanly support for architectures where ints and pointers are not the same size, for example AMD64. The good news is a whole lot of bugfixes have been committed recently, and there are several exciting items coming down the pike.
