A description of the Ralph Griswold memorial fund is available at: http://www.cs.arizona.edu/news/articles/200610-memorial.html Those of us who use and benefit from Ralph's work on a daily basis should lead the charge toward getting this fund established in perpetuity, which should be particularly easy given the Griswold family's matching support. If you can spare even $5 for this worthy cause, I encourage you to act. I am going to write my check tonight, and mail it in tomorrow. It will be for more than $5. Supporting CS students at Arizona in Ralph's honor is only slightly less cool than my favorite cause, which is supporting CS students at any institution who are working directly on improving his software. :-) So my challenge to Unicon group is: let's lead the charge on the Ralph Griswold endowment. By way of another, more humorous memorial homage, I have from personal experience a collection of colorful Griswold quotes, gathered mostly while taking his courses. It is inspired by but different in flavor than the famous Farberisms collection of Farber quotes. I would like to solicit contributions to this collection, and put it in a library procedure, properly formatted per IPL standards, where it can be called to obtain fortune-cookie-style Ralph-wisdom whenever it is needed. If you have a Ralph quote that you would like to share, please send it my way.
