Hi John,

The status is: experimental beta. You are welcome to try it out and
give us feedback. I will support it and fix bugs to the extent
limited time allows, which pretty much means: easy bugs. I have not
agreed to adopt it as-is into Unicon, there were credible arguments
that design is unfinished in that it lacks integration with string
scanning. However, it is both more concise and runs a lot faster than
string scanning and I will adopt it if and when I find the right
person to finish it. Sudarshan Gaikaiwari did a fantastic job for an
M.S. project but elected not to stick around for his Ph.D. Finishing
this project might become a funding priority soon, which tends to
attract bright students, so I would not abandon hope.

In my personal testing, which is limited, it worked as advertised but
I did experience a few cryptic errors (in non-scanning code, even)
that went away when I turned it off. That was (as you note) some time
ago and the situation might or might not be fixed, or acceptable, to
you now. Thus it is experimental.

Regards,
Clint
