Hi,
I have no doubt infuriated some who I admire deeply, with my conservative
approach to backward compatibility of our language and libraries with all
old programs. For example, when Ivib version 2 and the GUI class libraries
version 2 rolled out, I couldn't just dump version 1, we had production
software written in it. So we've shipped Unicon with the legacy version of
ivib included but not built by default for a long time now.
By now, every production code that uses version 1 that I know of, has been
migrated to version 2. I would like to know if there are any Ivib version
1 applications still out there that folks are reluctant or unable to
migrate. If the answer (by 3/15 or so) is no, I will remove the Ivib
version 1 from the Unicon distribution, although I will leave the version 1
GUI classes around, for awhile longer.
Cheers,
Clint
