Dear Unicon Community,
Since the last binary release at the beginning of this year, we have
been busy improving/adding Unicon features and fixing bugs. Unicon version
12.1 should be out in few weeks once we address a few remaining minor
issues. The good news is a 64-build on Windows is finally here!
Unicon 12.1 64-bit build is now available at source forge
https://sourceforge.net/projects/unicon/files/ as an Alpha release.
PNG/JPEG/compressed-icode is not yet ported to the 64-bit build, otherwise
everything should work fine. There is one* important difference* in the
64-bit build due to compiler differences (mingw gcc vs. mingw64 gcc) from
the old 32-bit build, and that is: iconx is *strictly
console*application, so wiconx should be used instead where
windows/GUI are
involved. for example, if you have a GUI program app.icn, if you compile
using:
unicon app.icn
app.exe will not be able to open a window. The compile line should be
unicon -G app.icn
to force the use of the GUI wiconx.exe instead of the console iconx.exe.
We greatly appreciate feedback in term of bug reports, and also performance
comparison between 32-bit and 64-bit of your applications.
Regards,
Jafar
