Dear Unicon Users,
A new Windows Unicon binary release is now available on Sourceforge. The
new release brings the binaries to the latest svn revision at 3976. The
last build was at revision 3420 from April last year, so we have 550+
commits since then bringing a lot of fixes, improvements and features. The

The two major improvements were:
1) Optimizations: Concurrency features incurred substantial overhead when
we first introduced them four years ago. With every iteration we tried our
best to reduce the overhead, but the performance of concurrent Unicon
builds especially on Windows had always fallen behind non-concurrent
builds. Unicon 12.2 changes the story bringing the performance to be on par
with or close to non-current builds. Many speed tests ran at 50% speed up
compared to previous version. This was mainly a Windows issue, the overhead
on Linux was not that bad to begin with.
2) 64-bit Support. 64-bit support on Windows was added a couple of years
ago and has been experimental since then. The main missing features
compared to 32-bit builds were, JPG/PNG images and native co-expressions
support. Windows Unicon 12.2 64-bit is now "feature complete", no less than
the 32-builds.
* All builds were statically linked, no more DLLs to worry about when you
move your executables around.
* The download page has 32/64 bit builds and also builds without thread
support. Please update and let me know if you have any issues.
