Hello,
        I purchased a 1971 31' SS that had a missing Paragon V-drive
and of course it was the water jacketed housing which is nearly
impossible to find. Originally the guy that was selling the boat told
me that his "certified marine tech" friend had one for that boat for
$350.00 so I decided to buy the boat. The guy showed up with some
junker rusted out Walter that would not work. He said he had the parts
to couple the Paragon to the Walter but at that point I said I would
solve the issue myself. I drove 3 hours each way as I found a complete
318 with a Paragon trans and split case V-Drive with less than 400
hours on it. The condition of everything is great. Although I knew
that the ratio on the trans was 2,0:1 I was unsure how much of a
difference in RPM it would make. Anyway I took the boat out for a sea
trial today and there is a 1500 rpm difference from the 1,5:1. I am in
contact with a guy that has two trans/V-drive combos that I am going
to buy and they are 2,0:1 Does anybody know what size props I need? I
think the boat has 16X15's on it now but at the 2:1 ratio they do not
spin fast enough without revving the engine too much. I thought of
trying to trade these props for the right size but I don't know where
to start. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
