If you are trying to remove the shaft from the coupling here are some general things to do.
remove the bolts, if it is a split couppling, take two chisles and wedge them in the split part of the couppling. now remove the prop and get a LARGE slide hammer that will screw on to the end of the shaft. The shaft will come out.
Let me start off with some explatives! [EMAIL PROTECTED]&##@@!!#$%^&[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
As you can tell I am getting very frustrated with the transmission
couplings on the propeller shafts. I have used pullers galore,
torches galore, 1 million caases of WD40, and a truck full of liquid
wrench trying to get these darn things off. If any one has any
suggestions as to how I can remove them I am all ears. My next step
is to get the die grinder out and just cut the darn things off of the
shafts. I know it is a waste of a good coupling, but what else am I
to do.
I am working on a 1973 36' SS.
Thanks,
Victor
