Jerry,

The whole point is to do the work, get the experience, have fun and
possibly save some $$.  Without this in mind, boating would just not
be the same for me.  I think I have decided to get the grinder out and
cut the old couplings off along the splits and get new ones.  Deep
Blue Yacht Supply has them for $100 each, so the cost is not too bad.
