Jim,

I buy a lot of my electrical supplies from Defender Industries
(www.defender.com).  They don't have a selection as big as West Marine, but the
prices are usually lower.  I am in California and do not have to pay sales tax
when dealing with Defender.  I do however pay shipping, but the total is
usually less than if I went to West Marine.  I have also scored some excellent
deals on components such as terminal strips, panels, relays, etc. and
electronics, from Peter Kennedy Yacht Services (www.pkys.com).

I'm planning to add an auxillary DC electric panel to my boat this
spring. I want to make sure I get good marine wire, however, I'm
working on a budget and need to shop wisely. Does anyone have
recommendations on a vendor that sells quality marine wire and panels
at reasonable prices? I know I can get quality from West Marine but
they are much more expensive than other vendors with the same
products. Thanks for your information!
