Just a suggestion but how about when the subject moves on to a new
topic - one of the fun things about discussion groups - stop the
string and start a new post? I'm sure a lot of good ideas have been
missed because the subject line is different than the topic.

I'm going back to chrome plating: Art Brass in Seattle is an
excellent place. Even though it sounds chi-chi it's, a real guy's
place - you know, vats of stuff with lots of old piping, noisy banging
and grinding, Mexican guys doing all the real work, calendars of
motorcycles with babes, etc.

Art Brass chrome plated hardware from my 1960 17' Uniflite runabout.
Most of the items were pot-metal and in poor shape. The parts had to
be sand blasted lightly and the pits filled with some sort of putty.
I was very pleased with the results.

Two things of note, one) I found the bow light (it looks light a Roman
helmet) in a 1962 Perko catalog. It's retail price was $7.50. It
caost me $200 to have it re-chromed! and 2) Uniflite was VERY proud of
their boat, it has the full size logo on it in five places! These all
re-chromed although a couple of them are very thin between some of the
letters.
