I rebuilt my Onan, but have not used it for a long period of time yet. I tested it for 6 hours in my driveway.
There is a raw water cooled unit on eBay right now that has only seen fresh water. It is $1800. If you have a heat x-changer and raw water pump on yours, you could transfer it to this one. I am not selling this unit, I just saw it. eBay item # 280431344539 I too looked into getting a new 6.5 kW (or similar) and found the prices to be between $10k and $15k. The marine gen sets are not cheap. It is cheaper to buy a bunch of batteries and a big power inverter. Hope this helps, Victor On Dec 2, 4:41 pm, okiegrandboater <[email protected]> wrote: > has anyone replaced a generater on their boat, I keep having problems > with my gen (Onan 6.5 gas) everytime I fix one problem it runs for a > little while and I get another problem and was wondering about just > intstalling a new one as I intend to keep this boat for a very long > time.
