When I drill into the stringers on my 42' they seem to be hollow fiberglass.
Maybe I can't detect the foam.  I''m not sure about the wood at the top, but I
have aluminum plates sandwiched to the sides at the engine mounts. Of course,
my Uni was layed up in 1983 (SE II) and there seems to have been a lot of
things being done differently near the end of the Uniflite era.

Are you sure about the foam stringers?  I was under the impression
that my stringers were solid wood glassed over, of course I can't
confirm this without cutting into them to find out.
