Mine is a 73 and here is what I found:

Above the headliner is plywood. The plywood is screwed into
fiberglass with a square pattern of glassed over foam strips that are
supposed to add rigidity, ie: egg crate design. Mine were cracked in
the corners of the squares which compromised the rigidity. If you
jack up the fiberglass roof you can see the cracks close. Make floor
to ceiling supports, apply epoxy to the open cracks, jack-up the roof
with the supports, coat cracks with more epoxy and fiberglass roving
and let dry. You can then, either add the laminated mahogany strips or
stainless strips, making sure they are "bowed". Replace the plywood
and headliner. If you want to dress up the salon like some of the
Chinese trawlers, add the laminated mahogany strips after replacing
the plywood. It is imperative that the roof is jacked up when you
screw in the bows so that the shape is maintained when you remove the
supports.
