Hi all, I just purchased a 1972 "Salty Pup" so far I am very impressed! I am doing some work to her now and getting ready for fishing. I purchased the boat with no engine (long story) it had an engine that was suppose to be new after a total refit well when i sea trial the boat it spun a main bearing and lost oil pressure. I loved the boat so i bought it at a good discount and put my own engine in. Have been building engines for many years so this was not a problem. I got all of the marine components from the bad engine and built up a new small block chev 383 stroker motor so it should push the boat along nicely. The boat is a straight inboard with a ZF transmission that is new has a new shaft and prop too (I am sure i will have to do some prop wrk after i am up and running). I have installed 2 new veratone MkII mufflers and am going to be droping the engine in next week. I installed a new sea strainer and a nice wash down pump so things are comming along. Just wanted to stop by and say "hi". I will be posting pics as soon as i figure out how. Could someone give me a hand with that i am new to posting in a group like this. I am use to fourm type stuff any help would be greatly appreicated.
