Hi, from the Indonesian boonies...
I have turbo'd my 6-71s, raising their shp to + - 350. ( and given myself a
headache doing it but am getting there --2 steps forward, 1 back! ) The
original NA exhaust system was fitted with vertical cylindrical risers. These
are now creating back pressure as they have too many right angle bends for the
increased exhaust volume. They have to be changed to a straight through system
with raw water injection at a suitable point.
Does anyone have experience in this area of goose neck exhausts ..
specifically I see it is possible just to weld a raw water cooling pipe on the
aft down side of an exhaust goose neck. I also see on the web there are
inserted shower-like doughnut shaped rings, in the exhaust pipe - these spray
the raw water into the down side of the goose neck, presumably cooling more
effectively.
Also is there any advice on metals for the pipes.. cast, steel, 304, 316 ($$$)
Any input will be really appreciated.
Thanks, Ross
