I have a 23' Salty Pup and am looking for some information. This boat has been repowered and refit (not by me) it currently has a ZF transmission with a 1.0 to 1.0 gear ration and it turns a 13 x 13 prop. Did these boats come with this ratio in the transmission? It seems like there should be some reduction in the gear and it should swing a larger diamater prop. I currently have a high percent of slippage approx 48% or so. Also the strut that is on the boat will not allow for any larger diameter prop I have approx 1 1/2 inches of clearance between the hull and prop tips. So i am currious if the strut has been changed to a shorter length or if this is what came on the boat. Something just doesnt seem right with the boat. It planes and cruises about 19 knts at 3300 RPM but "feels" like it is under a lot of load. And the high amount of slippage concerns me I have heard that 15% - 20% is where the slippage should be.
