You might try an anchor snubber. I made mine from 1/2" 3 strand Nylon line, a
chain hook with a mooring snubber mounted along the line. Hook the hook to your
chain rode and secure the bitter end to your big cleat then let out some more
chain rode till there is a slight bend in the chain. The nylon line and mooring
snubber can take shock loading easily. cost about 20.00
