Thank you for sharing your homework and hard work. Am 90% through the cleaning process of the underwater area of my hull The workers reckon they have ground off and removed about 300lbs of old paint and fiberglass roving that was in a 'weak blistered' condition. That has left dark stain patches and lesser blister holes / indentations . These stains are bright yellowy orange and are, according to Wiki and Google, bromine the fire-proof chemical added to the resin. So what's new ! I was having them washed with acetone, detergent and water. I had read this here and they were going but VVV slowly. When in doubt read the instructions --After quite a long hunt for bromine solvents ( read Google and Wiki and University papers) I found bromine is NOT soluble in Acetone. It is only lightly soluble in water. 3.8gms in 100gms water at 20deg C. Since reverting only to hot water and brushes the marks are losing their colour slowly but much faster than before. The detergent I believe was reducing the solubility in water. I believe the best solution is to remove the damaged ad blistered fibreglass then use a steam cleaner .. but I haven't found one in Jakarta. Am hunting . BTW, some blisters are bad and on grinding to remove blistering material the holes have gone right through the hull. Strangely these (4) major holes are exclusively beneath longitudinal foam reinforcing stringers. ....
