There are a few issues that could be happening there.  One is that the carbs 
are running too rich, the idle screws could be out of adjustment or it needs 
rebuilt.  The ignition could still be suspect but it sounds like a rich 
condition leading to fouling of the plugs.  What carbs are you running?

I posted a similar message last fall but had no replies...here's the
situation. I've noticed unburned fuel spitting out of the exhaust. I
replaced the fouled plugs last summer, which was a short term fix.
Suggestions? Are the plugs not hot enough? New plugs and wires?
Electronic ignition? The engines are crusader 270's. Thanks for your
