The answer (and solution) is simple. The locking changed in 2.6.16-rc, we are holding the patch [1] for now, since we want to first finish up some things (for example, remount). To fix it, you can just apply the patch, and it should work (I didn't test it myself, but it looked fine.) Jeff.
