Dear Family, Friends and Neighbors,
Many of you may already be aware that there has been a catastrophic
explosion and fire at the World Trade Center.
Two airplanes crashed into the two towers.
One may have been a hijacked 737 taking commuters from Boston to LA, the
other may be a suicide plane.
News guesses are that there may be as many as 100,000 people in the
towers.
Debris from the explosion has been found as much as 3 miles away.
So...
1. Pray for the victims and their survivors and
pray (and work) for peace and freedom from fear.
2. Please rethink any plans to visit NYC or make any plans to travel
through NYC today.
I can only imagine that Subways are shutdown, and all Cabs and buses have
been converted to ambulance duty, and that every emergency worker is on
full alert.
3. Reconsider other trips.
Reports have been made that...
The White House is being evacuated.
The Pentagon is on fire and is being evacuated.
The Mall in front of the Capitol is on fire.
The FAA has suspended all AIR TRAVEL in the ENTIRE COUNTRY for the
immediate future
4. Hug your kids.
It is a small world.
A friend from Germany called to tell me of the first crash at the Trade
Towers.
I watched TV mesmerized and heart sick as the second crash occurred.
There is little I can do to help the citizens of New York, but...
I can try to keep my friends from heading into danger or even just
confusion.
I can make sure my kids know I love them.
I can make sure my Organ Donor Card is up to date.
I can pray.
This neighborhood has a lot of people, but in my mind - none to spare.
