Bringing people in from other neighborhoods is an important part of supporting the neighborhood. Supporting local eateries improves our quality of life.
After my last email about the Zagat Survey and West Philadelphia I received an email about the survey from someone involved with the survey. I wanted to share with you all some of the things I found out.
A new questionnaire (the list of restaurants that people can vote on) is being prepared and there are a number of West Philly/UCity restaurants on it. The questionnaire will be available next month at various gourmet shops (food retail shops like Fresh Fields or Fresh Grocer). If you cannot find a questionnaire, email [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a name and address, and they'll send one out.
It's important for people to fill out their questionnaires. Because of space in the book, they drop restaurants that do not generate enough votes. Last time several West Philly/UCity restaurants were eliminated.
Zagat doesn't want the questionnaires to get into the hands of restaurateurs. They don't want any ballet-box-stuffing. :-) However, I think we as members of the community need to help support local restaurants.
