Spiral Q Puppet Theater will open the region's only puppet museum!!

Friday September 28th 4- 7 PM

Thanks to a generous Community Internship Grant from the Samuel S. Fels Fund, Spiral Q has spent the summer preparing a new public component to our programming: the Puppet Museum.

The opening will be on Friday, September 28th from 4 to 7 PM at Spiral Q's new home.

The new Puppet Museum is an inspiring gateway to the many programs taking place at Spiral Q. The space is full of the many giant puppets, masks, and banners that have been made at Spiral Q since it was founded, and the museum will serve as an excellent resource for the community. Students will learn about the different ways puppets can be used for personal expression and researchers can study the impact of puppet pageantry in neighborhoods and communities. Images of the collection and other resources will also be available online when Spiral Q's redesigned website is launched in October.

Please join Spiral Qs staff, board, volunteers and partners in celebrating the grand opening of our museum. See the puppets, banners, flags and toy theaters in a way they have never before been displayed! Witness and celebrate both the history of Spiral Q and of community puppet building in the Philadelphia area.

Please RSVP to Spiral Q at 215-222-6979 by September 26th.

Background:
Central to Spiral Qs work is a vision of people from all around the city parading in their own neighborhoods with art and puppets made by them about their lives today.  Spiral Q works in collaboration with dozens of community groups and agencies to bring giant puppet parades and park pageants to neighborhoods all over the city.  At the end of a season of smaller neighborhood parades, these groups all come together as delegates from their own neighborhoods to participate in an emerging Urban Arts Democracy celebrating life in Philadelphia - PEOPLEHOOD.
