I have an excellent place for you to buy used radiators. Ours ended up costing $84 and works fine. It is in North Philadelphia at Mascher (one block west of Front St.) and Huntington (one or two blocks south of Alleghany), I believe. Mr. Ortiz has hundreds (3 lots full, at least) of used radiators that he sells for $6 a section regardless of how many tubes deep it is or the size of the tubes. He is open until about 8:30-5:30 M-Sat. unless he is on vacation which he might not warn you about. He lives across the street and down a couple of houses so if you pull up and nobody is there but the door is open, he will get there in a few minutes. I believe that he leak tests all of the radiators before he sells them. He does not deliver though he will help you get it into your vehicle.
For those looking to sell used radiators, he only pays $1 a section and doesn't pick up. A word of caution, be careful about the size of radiator you buy. There are some complex formulas to determine how much capacity you need and what the equivalents are so that your room doesn't get too hot or cold. Best bet is to get the same size you currently have as it was probably installed to the correct specs. However, if the room size has changed, then the radiator size may also need to be changed. There are charts that help to determine which sizes put out approximately the same amount of heat--in other words, how many sections you need of the small tubes 17 inches tall versus large tubes 32 inches tall. Hope that helps. Alan --- "L. Bradley" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi Group > Does anyone out there know where I can get > replacements for cast iron > radiators? New or used.
