Once again, misinformation is being used to "inflame the masses". The tactic is repeated so often as to have become humorous, and discredits any real arguments you may have against the HD designation.
As you know, Holly, paint color is absolutely NOT controlled by historic district status. If you don't know that, then you should do your homework. However, this fact has been presented repeatedly, ad nauseum. The information is "conveniently" ignored by the anti-HD side because... well... it's useful to ignore it. And where ever did you get the idea that "historic colors" are all "shades of yellow and brown" with dull paint jobs, anyway? Do you have information that nobody else has? In fact, if you see alot of dull shades of yellow and brown, these houses are most likely owned by the many absentee landlords or large property-owning companies that rent to students. It's easier and more cost-effective to paint everything the same color on a massive scale. Come to think of it, you make a good point... maybe historic district status SHOULD control paint colors so that we are not subjected to the massive sameness that is currently imposed upon us by these outside forces.
