Dear Neighbors,

I just wanted to add to Viviane's note that Lea's principal, Mr. Silverman, and
his family, are fabulous people to work with. They are warm, dedicated, great
with chiildren, and knowledgeable about what works. Participating in this
program last year was a really good antidote to hearing abouut how terrible the
Phiiladelphia schools are.

Tutoring ends at 10:30, so it's not a huge time commitment. The activities
after have ended at noon, and have been great fun. No special experience is
needed, Mr. Silverman taught us all we needed to know last year on the job.
The children choose books at their appropriate level from color-coded baskets,
and they read to the tutors. At the end, the child picks any book, and the
tutor reads.

Aside from the literacy benefits, the children really seem to enjoy one on one
time with adults. And the big stuffed animal pillows in the library are very
cool!

Please join us.

Best,
debra kimmelman
