Thanks for the great Halloween!

We took 83 digital photos.
The costumes make it difficult to determine who should get which photo,
so...
if you visited the porch with the 8' tall red and purple dragon and want
a digital copy of your photo... just reply and describe your costume (and
grouping for the photos) and the approximate time that you visited. I'll
send your photo out this weekend.

We distributed snack sized bags of Chips or Pretzels, with the Halloween
candy, to keep count of the number of visitors and so we know we enjoyed
over 300 Trick-or-Treaters at our front porch. Hooray for this
neighborhood and for its joy, courage and creativity.

Favorites were:
        1. The NEWLYWEDS who came as Mr. and Mrs. PAC MAN
        2. The ACTRESS mother and talented tyke who were
        HERMIONE GRANGER and PROFESSOR McGONIGLE.
        3. The Artist couple who created an outfit I can only describe as
        fantasy style GHOST CROCODILE.
        4. The BIRTHDAY CAKE who was truly celebrating her birthday.
        5. The neighbors who brought "Pot Luck" Crockpots and Salads
        to our porch and who
helped cut open candy bags to keep the bowls full.

It was thrilling to see so much energy and talent parade for the
encouragement of some sweets and Halloween greetings.

Today is the more somber "ALL SAINTS DAY". Last night prepares me to
remember the good, funny and energetic events I shared with my dearly
departed. It also reminds me that those who have suffered recent losses
may be reeling from a first holiday alone. My religion labels today a
Holy Day and offers Masses for the dead. But, we can do more. If we
each stop and take a minute to appreciate the living and to work for
peace (through effort, prayer, speech and or well directed funds) we can
reduce wasteful death and living with despair. Last night some neighbors
handed out peace cards and a peace letter. Our family applauds them.
Thank you again to all who contributed to the joy of last nights
festivities.

All the best!
Liz
