I spoke to a staff person at the BRT in September and learned that--in her area anyway--many of the notices of tax increase that were mailed in late summer were in error. I did not appeal because she was able to tell the correct assessment amount by phone, which was confirmed by the revised notice I got in the mail on Tuesday. Funny none of this ever hit the press months ago.
