You are invited to an Ecumenical Festive Vespers for the Unity of the
Church, in celebration of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity on
Tuesday, January 21, 2003, at 6:30 PM at University Lutheran Church of the
Incarnation, Chestnut Street at 37th Street walkway.
This year's theme is from II Corinthians 4:5-18. "We have this treasure-
this gift- in earthen vessels"
The Octave for Unity has been celebrated since 1908 between the Conversion
of St. Paul and the Confession of St. Peter each January. Usually it snows
during this week but that does not stop the prayers of all of us, as we
grow closer to Christ and each other in the proclamation the Gospel.
Participating congregations and organizations include Tabernacle United
Church, The Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral, The Christian Association at
Penn, The Newman Center at Penn, St. Agatha/St. James, St Mary's Hamilton
Village, and University Lutheran Church of the Incarnation.
