Recruiting interested parties, not just volunteers, for ANYTHING is far more difficult today than it was 10 years ago, let alone 20-30 years ago. [...] There is no easy solution. I doubt that there even is a solution. The book, "Bowling Alone" talks about this issue. It is a long book, and unlike most popular sociology it includes the surveys, studies, historical data, and statistics used to back up it's conclusions. If I may be forgiven for summarizing it in two sentances, and for giving away the ending: 1) Throw away your TV 2) Live, shop, and work all in the same neighborhood I highly recommend the book - but who has time to read these days? :-) --- Chip ---- You are receiving this because you are subscribed to the list named "UnivCity."
