Dear list members:
I do not mean to denigrate the offerings in UnivCity, which are good. However,
if you would like a change and are willing to pay more, there is another
option.
If you seek tasty Indian food with a very charming ambiance, Cafe Spice on
2nd St.
is particularly enjoyable. I have never had a bad meal there. I often get
the tandoori
chicken with a side of raita -- a delicious light meal. When the weather
is nice, they can open wide the windows facing the street so that the front
tables
have an outdoor cafe feel.
DON'T neglect our local restaurants, but for a change of pace when going to the
Ritz or other downtown venues, keep Cafe Spice in mind.

I think Tandoor India (on 40th just north of Sansom) is not only the
best of
the W Philly Indian restaurants, but maybe the best in the city --
significantly better than New Delhi, but somewhat more expensive (but
well worth it).
