Farmers' market opens on Penn Campus Thursday June 19th, Spruce & 33rd An outdoor farmers' market opens noon on Thursday at the outdoor eating area 33rd and Spruce (NE corner). This colorful weekly event for the University of Pennsylvania and Children's Hospital community features organic fruits and vegetables and organic bread. The starting farms are Livengood Produce and Oley Valley Farm. Big Sky Bakery will also be there selling its many styles of bread baked with organic ingredients. They will be joined later in the summer by North Star Orchards, which will offer apples and Asian pears. The farmers' market on Penn Campus is the newest of many Philadelphia area farmers' market to open under the banner of the Buy Fresh, Buy Local Campaign for Southeast Pennsylvania (buylocalpa.org) created by the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture, the Philadelphia Fair Food Project (White Dog Caf� Foundation), and Farm to City. Come on your lunch hour, afternoon break, or after work to meet the people who grow your food. Help this market get off to a successful start. Hours are noon to 6 pm every Thursday.
