Subject: New farmers' market on Penn Campus

Farmers' market opens on Penn Campus Thursday June 19th, Spruce & 33rd

An outdoor farmers' market opens noon on Thursday at the outdoor eating area
33rd and Spruce (NE corner). This colorful weekly event for the University
of Pennsylvania and Children's Hospital community features organic fruits
and vegetables and organic bread. The starting farms are Livengood Produce
and Oley Valley Farm. Big Sky Bakery will also be there selling its many
styles of bread baked with organic ingredients. They will be joined later in
the summer by North Star Orchards, which will offer apples and Asian pears.

The farmers' market on Penn Campus is the newest of many Philadelphia area
farmers' market to open under the banner of the Buy Fresh, Buy Local
Campaign for Southeast Pennsylvania (buylocalpa.org) created by the
Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture, the Philadelphia Fair
Food Project (White Dog Caf Foundation), and Farm to City.

Come on your lunch hour, afternoon break, or after work to meet the people
who grow your food. Help this market get off to a successful start. Hours
are noon to 6 pm every Thursday.
