Here, here to that Sande! I totally agree...what good does small, hard, even blades of grass provide? I have even replaced large beds of English Ivy. Now, I know English Ivy is a nice plant, but in my opinion it is as boring as grass. It never flowers, usually doesn't have that much "eye appeal", and strangles most plant life around it. Not to mention it also climbs your house and has been known to ruin foundation/ pointing.
I'd much rather see vinca (with blooms of purple in spring and fall), sedum(small yellow flowers), ice plants (exotic purple starbursts all summer long), or mazus reptans (spinach looking groundcover with these cute purple flowers in spring and fall) Also Mazus can be stepped on just like grass! So people who enjoy color, and think they have less work with lawns, please see the garden at the corner 48th and Cedar. We spent a summer putting in new soil and new plants. yes, it has an overgrown St. John's wart, but we (and I don't think anyone else) has been over there to weed or prune in two years! Look how fabulous it can be? Can you say that about grass? I think not. Dan Myers ----- Original Message ----- From: "Knight, Sandra (US - Philadelphia)" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'William H.
