Saturday evening
(September 20) Penn will play Duquesne in football at Franklin Field. Both
of these teams have been very successful in their respective leagues over the
last few years, Penn in the Ivy League and Duquesne in the Metro-Atlantic
Conference. It should be a good game.
Penn's Athletic
Department, through its Office of Community Affairs, will be holding its Second
Annual West Philadelphia Community Night and is making tickets available for
free for its neighbors. I have a supply of these tickets and can get them
to you if you would like to attend.
There are many in
West Philly who have lived here for years but have never been to a game at
Franklin Field. These games are a lot of fun, especially when Penn is
successful. No alcohol is sold, making it a great environment for
kids. Maybe they will even want to go to an Ivy League school when they
grow up if they become fans early. Indeed, one of the many amenities of
living in West Philly is to have wonderful entertainment venues at our
doorstep.
In addition, I am
having some friends over for some refreshments before the game. Anyone is
welcome to stop over. It will also be a convenient way to distribute
tickets. This email is going into several listservs that include many in
our neighborhood, and I certainly do not know everyone on these
listserves. I hope that no one will feel shy about coming over. I
find that it is always good to meet more of our neighbors and you are
welcome.
In any event, here's
the specifications on the pre-game:
Time: 3PM until 5PM to allow
time to make the 6PM kickoff
Place: 4256 Regent Square
(between Chester and Woodland on 43rd St.)
Phone:
215-387-7300/215-387-5641
It is helpful if you
email me if you can make it, but feel free to stop over if you do not get
around to responding. The worst case scenario is I run out of
food.
See
ya.
Sincerely,
Matt
Wolfe
