When there is no opposition then there isn't much to vote for.
Plenty of communist and third-world empires hold elections
where 99% of the vote goes to the incumbent. We certainly
don't consider these nations to have free will.
The fact that there are people who want to run for these offices but
are unable to for "unspecified reasons" should raise a red flag [1]
Long before any allegations of intimidation against the Katz campaign came
to light, I was informed of some frighteningly similar history behind why
people might possibly be afraid to compete in these local races.[2]
My source is a life-long local resident and community supporter who recalled
several serious events of violence perpetrated against competitors.
Unfortunately I am also too afraid of my personal and family safety to
divulge details publicly. Perhaps after the election it may be possible.
