Our Sep. 30 Membership Meeting is fast approaching. It will be
held that Tuesday evening, at 7:30 p.m., in Griffith Hall, 601 South 43rd
St., on the USP campus. Now more than ever, Clark Park needs your support
and involvement. You may join by paying your dues at the time of the
meeting.
This year has been a year of major investment and renewal
for Clark Park, one of the city’s recreational jewels. The new tot lot has
been installed in the South Park, next to the older children’s playground
which likewise will soon be replaced. The worn-out tot lot in the North Park
has been removed, to make room for – what?
That and other important questions face FRIENDS OF CLARK PARK
at the Membership Meeting. That’s when the next phase of the Renewal Plan
will be discussed by the community. Next year’s officers
will also be elected then. We hope you’ll be there! It’s vital that all the
different users of Clark Park help in this planning and that a wide range of
voices be heard.
Also, look forward to the Volunteer Work Day on Saturday, Sep.
27. It’ll be a great day to pitch in and enjoy some outdoor activity. Last
month we coordinated more than 60 USP entering freshmen as they donated a
morning of hard work to the neighborhood. They mulched trees, repainted the
shed, and removed safety hazards. On Oct. 4, a Penn student group will do the
same. We’ll be fixing benches and planting trees – and bringing people
together. You're welcome to join us then as well.
