To the
list:
For
what it is worth, I have never had a break in in any of the four cars I
have owned since 1980,
all of
which have been parked on UCity streets, since I lack a
garage.
All
three were old used cars and pretty beat up looking. (One did not start
out being that beat up
looking, but was quickly "customized" by bad drivers
and worse parkers hitting and scraping it
and some random doses of vandalism, like smashing
my hubcaps.)
I
assume that it "pays" to have a crappy car. I had an old rust bucket
Toyota that I actually
saw a
homeless guy stare at with scorn -- as if he were thinking "I'd never be
caught dead driving
a
wreck like that!"
So, if
you can bear the humiliation of being seen to drive an old heap, you may, like
me, be lucky
in
conveying the impression that your car window is not worth the trouble of
breaking since nothing
of
value could possibly be lurking inside.
