I am not aware of any legal testing of this kind of disclaimer.  They seem to be most popular on new technologies (first faxes, now emails) because they seem to be different but they probably would not be treated any differently by a court than mistakenly sending a letter to an unintended recipient.  Whatever force such a disclaimer may have, I think it loses any meaning by being attached to non-privileged communications (such as mass-emailed floor renovation requests).  Personally, I do not bother with them for professional or home-improvement emails--I just try to think before hitting "send."
