Why would the car owner's insurer not pay to repair the car? Stupidity is not grounds for a denial of a property damage claim. For example, if you are driving too fast for the conditions, lost control of your car, and hit a tree, the insurer will still pay to fix the car notwithstanding the fact that the accident was your own fault.

They are known to run the hose through the car, breaking the glass for access, and consequently filling the car with water. The insurance companies will not pay for obvious reasons. Big risk, more than the price of a ticket.
