Subject: [UC] THE REAL WORLD in Philly

While I don't think the average age in Philadelphia is any older or younger
than anywhere else in the US, Philadelphia is not a destination city for the
young upwardly mobile crowd (people with good salaries and propensity to
spend money). Ironically, the people we need here probably do not watch the
"real world" now, but they probably did 10 years ago. If you think about
it,
when was the last time you heard anyone say "I would really like to go to
Philadelphia for a few days - and maybe move there?" I never have. I do,
however, here of a lot of middle class folks who leave for greener pastures.
They leave because they are tired of the struggle this place has become.
This
town is tired. Dead tired. Worse than that, though, is the fact that the
powers
that be here - political parties, unions, who or whatever, don't seem to get
it.
It is business as usual. The empty, unexpanded Convention Center should
serve as glaring proof of that. If that type foolish behavior continues, in
20 years this place will be like Detroit.
