HP and Magic Johnson Foundation Partner to Address Digital Divide in
Philadelphia; Magic Johnson/HP Inventor Center Opens in Philadelphia --
Features HP Technology

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 13, 2004--HP (NYSE:HPQ)(Nasdaq:HPQ)
and the Magic Johnson Foundation brought their national community
technology initiative aimed at bridging the digital divide to Philadelphia
today with the opening of the 14th Magic Johnson/HP Inventor Center at The
Enterprise Center in West Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia center joins 13 Inventor Centers in nine other cities
across the country to offer training, skills development and online access
for youth and adult residents in inner-city communities. Over the past
year centers have opened in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Lansing, Mich., Los
Angeles, Miami, New York City, Seattle and Washington. HP's investment in
the centers totals more than $1.4 million over three years.

"Computers are so widely used in our society today that their availability
is often taken for granted," said Earvin "Magic" Johnson, founder of the
Magic Johnson Foundation. "However, for many residents of underserved
communities, ready access to computers and the training on how to use them
is still the exception rather than the norm. This partnership with HP
permits residents of the community to have access and training
opportunities that are not otherwise available."

The Magic Johnson Foundation and HP selected The Enterprise Center as the
location for the Inventor Center because of its focus on training and
economic growth for its clients. The Magic Johnson/HP Inventor Center
facility will support that focus with training opportunities and a
powerful lineup of HP commercial and consumer products ranging from
servers, desktop and notebook PCs to printers, projectors and digital
cameras.

At the Inventor Center, local residents will have access to a host of HP
technology and training services, including business development
resources, computer skills training, and professional developmental
seminars.

"Through its programs The Enterprise Center offers hope and opportunity
for many who are working toward a better life," said Governor of
Pennsylvania, Edward G. Rendell. "The addition of the Magic Johnson/HP
Inventor Center will strengthen the offerings through TEC and will be a
tremendous benefit not only to the individuals who use it, but to the
community as a whole."

"In today's world it is critical that young and old alike are comfortable
with technology and that they understand how it can improve the quality of
their life," said Cathy Martin, director, state and local government
marketing, Public Sector Organization, HP. "Through this effort, HP and
the Magic Johnson Foundation combine the strengths of two organizations to
open new doors of growth and prosperity for the residents of West
Philadelphia."

Other sponsors supporting the Magic Johnson/HP Inventor Center include:
DHL, Eastwind Consulting Group, Freddie Mac and the National Association
for Multi-ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) Foundation.
